To ensure you get the perfect fit for your floor, it’s essential to measure your rooms accurately. Follow our simple guide to measure different room sizes for flooring.
Rectangular Rooms
Rectangular rooms can be calculated by multiplying the length by the width.
If your room is 5 metres long by 4 metres wide, the area will be 20 metres squared.
Therefore, you'll need a minimum of 20m2 of flooring.
Odd Shaped Rooms
For odd shaped rooms, you can easily calculate the area by splitting the room into rectangular sections, multiplying the length by the width of each section, and then adding all the areas together.
For the example above, the minimum amount of flooring needed would be 13.75m2.

Lifeworks Silver Birch 14mm Herringbone is perfect for busy family homes looking for peace of mind and a great looking floor.
This is no ordinary laminate floor—it's packed with the incredible features of our Platinum Family Guard™ Technology, providing Very Heavy Domestic and Heavy Commercial durability. It is 100% waterproof, includes an attached underlay for added convenience, and offers superior 21dB soundproofing.
With an enhanced R13 slip rating for extra safety and a Lifetime Domestic and 15-Year Commercial wear warranty, this laminate flooring is built to stand the test of time.
Installation Instructions
Start by placing two RR panels and three LL panels in the form of a V shape.
Connect the first RR panel into the first LL panel by angling it.
Connect the second LL panel on the left side of the V shape by angling it.
Alternate RR and LL panels until all five panels have been connected.
Mark a straight line from the lower left corner of the third LL panel through the top right corner of the first LL panel to form a triangle. Cut along the line with a saw.
Place triangles working your way outward from the centre of the wall.
Measure and cut the remaining two triangles and slot them between the walls and the other triangles.
Continue with the next row of RR panels. Connect the long side by angling it. Measure and cut the panel closest to the wall as necessary.
Slide the panels along its long side and connect the short side by snapping it using a tapping block.
Use LL panels for the next row. Measure and cut the panel closest to the wall as necessary. Continue alternating RR and LL panels for the remainder of the room.
